‘Too sweet for the streets’: Golden hearted cat child abandoned in trailer park finds furever home thanks to an outpouring of online love

It is not all too often that we get to read stories about sweet little pawdorable princes who are left behind by their families. Usually, the cat in question is at least a little clawminal from having to stand up for itself in what were tough conditions to flourish. But here we are with the heartbreaking story of a cute catto who was left all alone in the trailer park he had grown up in. a cat who loved and trusted hoomans so much that he was unfazed by neighbors chasing him away with rocks. A cat that had nothing in his heart but the need to be loved. Heck, we would even go as far as to say, a cat who did not even expect treats in return for cuddles.


But as you will come to find, an outpouring of orange cat love online made it so that this sweet angel found his furever home with the purrfect pawrents in no time at all. Proving that being a good boy, brings you good things, even if that means being left behind by hoomans who did not appreciate you as they should have.

    This beautiful boy is named Red. He was dumped in my mobile home park by someone that either moved, or never lived here to begin with and just left him behind to fend for himself.

    On Friday he and a very pregnant black cat were trapped for TNR/Spay- over the weekend and they're both coming back today within a few hours. The black mama cat will remain in my care for a week while she recovers from extreme surgery (in the mean time I'm networking to find a rescue willing to take her), while I'm also caring for a one-eyed black cat

    outside of our mobile home park - who fortunately is being picked up by a rescue next weekend to go to his foster home! But as for Red, if no one offers to help him, he will be released to roam again where he has to search for food, shelter, and safety from predators. I desperately would take him in and find him placement in the mean time but

    He is an extremely sweet, loving, and gentle big boy who very clearly was someone's baby before he was abandoned and left entirely alone. All he wants more than food is to be pet and loved on. He has big "himbo" energy and isn't the best survivalist (as expected because he's entirely domesticated), he walks up to the meanest neighbors and gets yelled at,

    shoo'd away, and I've single- handedly witnessed someone throw a brick at him (they missed but he was still petrified). It's only a matter of time before his life is tragically cut short, as so many of you understand that outdoor cats do not live long.

    I've reached out to every contact | have, and at the last minute | thought of posting to Reddit. I only have a few hours before he's released and the chances of capturing him again could be slim to none. He's so naively trusting that if I might be able to trap him or get him in a carrier again, but that's only if I find someone willing to foster or rescue him. It's currently 1pm,

    and the transporter will be dropping him off to be released between 3-6pm. If I can find an adopter, foster or rescue willing to offer him refuge the transporter will keep him while we figure things out. I'm in Downey, CA and can find transport within Southern California if needed, though if someone is willing to drive out to me it would make things much easier as I do not have a vehicle.

  • What a heartbreaking story. Any story of a cat child who has been abandoned is crushing to read about. But when it is a cat who loves hoomans so much and trusts them so much that even after being pelted with pebbles, they still look for love and cuddles, is rejected by their family, you really have to question what is going on with the world. Luckily things get better from here on out.

    UPDATE! Red is SAFE and in a forever home! He no longer will be living on the streets. No longer will go to sleep hungry, have to worry where his next meal will come from, where a safe place to rest his head will be, protecting himself from predators and cruel people... he's safe. And

    panic that he was going to end up with a rescue I didn't jive with - who at the time were the only ones committing to him - but after further questioning it was discovered the rescue was ran only by a husband/wife in their 60's and had a little over 55 cats.

    Absolutely no disrespect to the rescue as they likely mean well and their intentions are good - but my gut said NO as far as Red going there. I didn't want him to be overlooked in an environment with so many cats, as he deserved one on one love and care... and now thanks to the person who reached out and wanted to help, he'll get just that and more for the rest of his days.

  • Well thank goodness for the power of the internet. Who would have thought that you might be scrolling the pages of your preferred social media platform and one day you suddenly end up with a cat child in your arms. It is certainty a sweeter story than going to an animal shelter, plus it is nice to know that such a sweethearted cat did not have to endure the scary conditions of an animal shelter.
